On April 12, 2022, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp signed into law the "Georgia Constitutional Carry Act" (SB 319), which allows residents and non-residents that are 21 years of age or older to carry a firearm and various other weapons, including knives, in most public places with or without a permit.
However, there are still laws in place restricting carrying a weapon if you are a convicted felon; convicted under the First Offender Act; or if you're convicted for an offense involving household members.
Did you know - If you are committing a felony crime and a weapon is involved, the weapons charge is considered a separate offense and punished separately as a felony and it cannot be reduced to a misdemeanor. O.C.G.A. § 16-11-106: Possession of firearm or knife during commission of or attempt to commit certain crimes.
